This Privacy Policy describes how DukeDeals (“DukeDeals,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses and protects personal information when you visit dukedeals.shop (the “Site”), contact our support team, or buy office desks, office chairs, bookshelves and related workspace furniture from us. It also explains the choices and rights available to you.
By using the Site or placing an order, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Site.
1. Who we are
DukeDeals is an online retailer of office and work-from-home furniture serving customers in the United States. DukeDeals is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at any time using the details in Section 15.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us directly. When you place an order, create an account, request a business quote, sign up for emails or contact us, we may collect:
- Your name, billing address and delivery address
- Email address and phone number
- Order details, such as the products you buy, quantities, prices and delivery instructions
- Account credentials, if you create an account (passwords are stored in hashed form)
- The content of messages you send us, including photos you attach for assembly help, damage reports or warranty claims
- For business buyers, your company name, job title and the details of any quote request
Payment information. Card and other payment details are entered at checkout and processed by our third-party payment processors. DukeDeals does not receive or store your full card number or security code. We may receive limited information from the processor, such as the card type, the last four digits, the expiry date and whether the transaction was approved, so we can match payments to orders and handle refunds.
Information collected automatically. When you browse the Site, we and our service providers automatically collect certain technical information, including your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, time spent on pages, and the date and time of your visit. We collect this through cookies, pixels and similar technologies (see Section 6).
Information from third parties. We may receive information from shipping carriers (such as delivery confirmations and tracking events), from our payment processors (such as fraud screening results), and from analytics providers in aggregated form.
3. How we use your information
We use personal information for the following purposes:
- To fulfil your order: processing payment, preparing and dispatching furniture, sharing delivery details with carriers, and sending order confirmations and tracking updates.
- To support you: answering product and sizing questions, providing assembly guidance, handling returns, refunds, exchanges and warranty claims, and preparing business quotes.
- To manage your account: letting you view order history, save addresses and manage preferences.
- To keep the Site secure: detecting and preventing fraud, unauthorized transactions, abuse and security incidents.
- To improve our store: understanding how visitors use the Site so we can fix problems, improve navigation and decide which products to stock.
- To send marketing, with your consent: emails about new arrivals, price changes and workspace setup guides. You can opt out at any time.
- To meet legal obligations: keeping records for tax and accounting, responding to lawful requests, and enforcing our Terms & Conditions.
4. Legal bases for processing
Where the law requires a legal basis for processing, we rely on one or more of the following: performance of a contract with you (for example, delivering your order); your consent (for example, marketing emails and non-essential cookies); our legitimate interests (for example, preventing fraud and improving the Site), balanced against your rights; and compliance with legal obligations.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising in exchange for money. We share personal information only as described below:
- Payment processors, to authorize and settle payments and screen for fraud.
- Shipping carriers and fulfillment partners, who need your name, address and phone number to deliver furniture and, for larger items, to schedule delivery.
- Technology providers, such as website hosting, ecommerce software, email delivery and customer support tools, who process data on our behalf under contractual confidentiality obligations.
- Professional advisers, such as accountants and lawyers, where necessary.
- Legal and safety disclosures, when required by law, subpoena or court order, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, our customers or others from fraud or harm.
- Business transfers, if DukeDeals is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case personal information may transfer to the new owner under this policy’s protections.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
We use the following categories of cookies:
- Strictly necessary cookies keep your cart, checkout and account sessions working. The Site cannot function properly without them.
- Preference cookies remember choices such as items recently viewed.
- Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use the Site, in aggregated form.
- Marketing cookies, if used, help us measure the effectiveness of our campaigns.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent the cart and checkout from working. Where required by law, we will ask for your consent before placing non-essential cookies.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Browsers may send “Do Not Track” signals; because there is no common industry standard for them, the Site does not currently respond to them. Where applicable law requires it, we treat a valid Global Privacy Control signal as a request to opt out of targeted advertising for that browser.
7. Marketing communications
We send marketing emails only to people who have opted in, for example by ticking the consent box on our newsletter form. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing does not stop transactional messages about orders you have placed, such as confirmations, shipping notices and replies to your support requests.
8. Data retention
We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy. Order and transaction records are generally kept for up to seven years to meet tax, accounting and warranty requirements. Support correspondence is generally kept for up to three years after the matter is closed. Marketing preferences are kept until you unsubscribe, after which we keep a suppression record so we do not email you again. Account data is kept until you ask us to close the account, subject to the legal retention periods above.
9. How we protect your information
The Site uses SSL/TLS encryption to protect information sent between your browser and our servers. We limit access to personal information to people who need it to do their jobs, use reputable service providers, and apply reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and any relevant authorities as required by law.
10. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights:
- Access: to know what personal information we hold about you and to receive a copy
- Correction: to ask us to correct inaccurate information
- Deletion: to ask us to delete your personal information, subject to legal exceptions
- Portability: to receive your information in a commonly used format
- Opt-out: to opt out of marketing emails, targeted advertising and, where applicable, the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information as those terms are defined under state privacy laws
- Withdraw consent: where processing is based on consent, at any time, without affecting earlier processing
- Non-discrimination: we will not deny you goods, charge different prices or provide a different level of service because you exercised a privacy right
To make a request, email support@dukedeals.shop with the subject line “Privacy Request,” or call us. We will verify your identity by matching information you provide against our records before acting on the request. You may use an authorized agent; we may ask for proof of the agent’s authority. We respond within the time required by applicable law, typically within 45 days. If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision, and we will review the appeal and respond within the time the law requires.
California residents. In the past twelve months, we have collected the categories of personal information described in Section 2 (identifiers, commercial information, internet activity information and, for business buyers, professional information) for the purposes in Section 3, and disclosed them to the categories of recipients in Section 5. We have not sold personal information and do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.
11. Children’s privacy
The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Third-party links
The Site may link to third-party websites, such as carrier tracking pages or social media profiles. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and we are not responsible for them.
13. Visitors from outside the United States
DukeDeals operates from the United States and sells to delivery addresses within the 48 contiguous states. If you access the Site from another country, your information will be processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or the law. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted on the Site or communicated by email where appropriate.
